Hi, I’m Micheala.
My weapon of choice is oil paints to create my pieces. I paint simply for the joy and calm it brings to my soul. I do not paint with a “target audience” in mind; I paint what I want and, hey, maybe someone else will enjoy it, too. My paintings also do not, and will not, always have a message or story to convey. Sometimes my paintings are just for one to stand back and say, “Damn, that’s nice.”
I deeply love challenging myself with intricate details, and I hold the utmost love for still-life projects and portraits. That being said, please do not ask me to do landscapes. (Truth be told, I cannot paint a tree. And honestly? Let’s leave out pet portraits while we’re at it.)
I have loved art since I could hold a crayon. I grew up drawing and colouring all the time. In high school, I got introduced to acrylic paints and realized painting was for me. In college, I took a painting course where I was introduced to oil paints; that is when I fell head over heels and knew I wanted, nay, needed, to paint for more than a casual hobby.
All I want from this life I was given is to create and maybe inspire a little, bring some joy here and there. Maybe I’ll make someone cry, I don’t know. Everyone gets so caught up in eat-sleep-work gogogo, we forget to slow down and enjoy what sets our souls on fire. I refuse to do that. Not to sound so cliche, but Picasso was right: “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
